Explore the ordinary note and its absolutes together, or choose one variant. Their scent can differ; fragrance compositions keep the exact published names.
What does this note smell like?
Crushed green leaves with a peppery herbal bite, sometimes anise-like sweetness and a softer sweet finish. Basil can make citrus feel more leafy and give rounded flowers or creamy woods a savoury contrast rather than mint-like icy coolness. Different basil types vary; the broad note does not choose one cultivar, chemotype or extraction method, and an anise-like smell does not mean anise itself is an ingredient.
