Note combinations
Rose and patchouli
Rose petals alongside earthy, woody patchouli. Fruit, musk and other flowers can change the emphasis. Compare the full note lists to find a balance between the floral and darker sides.
Rose
Petal-like floral body can range from fresh and green to fruity, spicy or warmly honeyed. Rose can lead a bouquet or link bright fruit to woods, musks and amber. Compare its fresh-petal side with its richer warmth: a rose note need not smell like sweet jam, and the name does not specify one flower extract.
Patchouli
Earthy, green and darkly woody, with facets that can suggest damp leaves, cocoa or a cool camphor-like edge. Patchouli gives flowers and sweet fruit a deeper ground and can connect them to resins. It differs from vetiver’s drier root-like line; these associations do not add cocoa or camphor as separate ingredients.
