What does it smell like?
XIII Eau de Ambre sets apple, blood orange and grapefruit against a heart of patchouli, tonka bean, cedar and freesia. Amber, vanilla, tobacco and sandalwood give the base a warmer direction. Compare it with XI Eau de Riante: there, orange blossom and lavender connect citrus to frankincense and benzoin. Try the two side by side to distinguish juicy fruit with tobacco from aromatic flowers with incense, rather than choosing by the Roman numeral alone.
