Salicylate (family)

Salicylates are a family, not one fixed smell: amyl salicylate can suggest powdery flowers, while methyl salicylate has a cool wintergreen-like direction. Floral members can add body around petals and woods. An unqualified salicylate label does not identify which member is used, so it should not be assumed to mean mint.
