Clary sage (France)

What does this note smell like?

A rounded aromatic herb with dry hay-like warmth, musky-amber softness and possible floral or gently fruity shades. Clary sage can bridge lavender and citrus to woods or tobacco with less of the sharply camphoraceous leaf image of common sage, though camphor facets can still occur. Salvia sclarea is a documented perfumery reference, not proof of each formula’s raw material. A country qualifier does not establish an estate, harvest or oil grade; musky describes the scent, not an animal ingredient.
