Rabanne’s perfume history began with Calandre in 1969. Its later sculptural bottles are instantly recognizable, but a shared shape can contain very different compositions. The original 1 Million Eau de Toilette puts mandarin and mint alongside cinnamon, rose, leather and amber: sweetness held within a spicy frame.

1 Million Elixir emphasizes apple, Damask rose, vanilla and tonka. Royal takes cardamom, lavender and sage toward benzoin, cedar and patchouli. The original’s cinnamon and leather, Elixir’s fruit and vanilla, and Royal’s aromatic woods distinguish the three; they are not a simple progression from weaker to stronger.
