Maison Matine offers fruit, warm resins and some less expected combinations. Arashi No Umi opens with green apple, peach and freesia before flowers and musky woods. Avant l’Orage gives jasmine a softer, balsamic setting of benzoin, vanilla and tonka, with pink pepper adding spice. Into The Wild takes juniper, cardamom and pepper toward ginger and flowers, with dark chocolate in the base. The chocolate provides a distinctive counterpoint to its herbal, spicy opening.
